After a course of bad luck, things finally turned around for us.

Money was starting to get really tight a few months ago with Joe's car still needing repairs plus the fact that I wasn't working. I started applying for jobs and couldn't get hired if my life depended on it. I figured it wouldn't be hard considering it was around the time all the stores were doing their seasonal hiring... but nope. I literally applied everywhere (except restaurants since I don't have a food handler's permit) then finally got hired as a cashier at Dollar Tree. Not exactly the job I'd ideally want, of course, but some type of income was better than no income at all.

I decided I'd work at Dollar Tree in the mean time until I could get a better job elsewhere. A couple months went by when one day, I saw on my Facebook that La Palmera's status mentioned they were hiring. I e-mailed them my resume, got a call back the next day, went in for my interview, and the rest is history...

I am now an executive marketing assistant for La Palmera. Well, technically for Trademark Property, the company that owns La Palmera, but you get my point. My job is amazing and it almost isn't fair to call it a "job" or "work".

I work both in the management office and the information desk doing secretarial work, but I do a lot more than that. Besides updating the Facebook/Twitter accounts, I basically get paid to shop. I go to the various stores on our property and try on clothes, sample the various colognes, etc so I can get a general idea of what to be promoting to our buyers. We also hold these crazy fun events all the time that I partake in as well. Oh, and did I mention I get a bunch of discounts and free stuff all the time? Amazing.

Since high school (thanks Mrs. Rollins), I've always been told that I have a natural talent for this kind of stuff and marketing should be my "thing". I've always really enjoyed it but figured pharmacy was more practical. Now that I have this job and with the experience I've had so far, I think marketing actually is my "thing" and I think I just might have to make that late switch of changing my major. But another perk about my job?... if my major is business/marketing related, they pay for my tuition. :)

Now that I've been with the mall for a couple months now, Joe and I have been a lot less stressed. He's due for a promotion soon and we just bought him a Yamaha 600cc bike... so he's pretty content, too. I've been pulling in crazy hours at work so it's been nice being able to save some money.

Sephora will have it's Grand Opening tomorrow along with a La Palmera's Mix and Mingle event celebrating all the new renovations and to thank the community for their postive feedback and support. We'll have a bunch of giveaways and refreshments!

But anyway. If you're at the mall anytime, come see me. I'm off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays... and sometimes Sundays... but still. Try to come by. I'll hook you up with free valet parking coupons and whatever else I've got. :)

OMFG I loved it. I feel like a 13 year old girl BUT I DON'T CARE.

New Moon was my least favorite of the series... but if the movie was this good, I can't wait for Eclipse this Spring!

Now I'm going to sleep... in my Team Edward shirt :)
I have no shame.

As if he couldn't possibly prove it anymore, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao is a fucking BEAST.

A record breaking SEVEN titles in seven different weight divisions. This man is so unstoppable, Mayweather still won't agree to fight him.

I'll admit, Cotto was pretty good... at running and falling.

Blast from the past.

Despite the fact that Joe and I have been budgeting like crazy lately, I had an amazing 5-day-long birthday celebration. I love my amazing friends and family. They're so good to me.

The thing I loved most about my birthday is that I got to spend it with some very good friends. Sure, my friends that I've met just from within the past few years showed up... but some of my really good friends from high school, middle school, and even elementary school made an appearance. What made it so worth while was the fact that we all got along like we had never been apart, even though it had been years since some of us had seen each other. I think the last time I hung out/conversed with Todd was sophomore year. I hadn't seen Ryan Valle, Gilbert or Bryan since senior year. You get my point.

I had so much fun that I forgot to take more pictures... which is the only thing I'm bummed about. I managed to take a few, so here are some of them:Collapse )

(Celebration details coming soon...)

I also have to add that... BASKETBALL IS BACK and I am happy beyond belief. Loves it!

Anyway, I really just wanted to post pictures of our costumes. No couple costume this year.

Maybe Marquez should've drank Pacquiao's piss instead of his own. Just sayin'...

Looong day tomorrow. Replacing the front door and moving in the last bit of our stuff... including our new bed and sofas, yessss!
(oh, and btw... since we got new stuff, we're selling our furniture. Let me know if you're interested!)

Operation Move-in: In progress.

My brother and I inherited a condo from my mom after she passed away. We made the decision to go ahead and keep it since it's paid off and to sell our house instead. Sooo since the lease at mine and Joe's apartment was going to end, we decided it was time for us to move into the condo. We gave our tenant well over her 30-day notice to move out and she literally waited until the very last minute to move out. Since she took longer than the 30 days to move out, Joe and I have been staying at my brother's because we had to be out of Kingston Port on July 31st. We would've stayed at the prorated rate for a few days, but our complex had already rented out our place since we gave them our 30-day notice at the beginning of the month. Anyway, our tenant was finally out this past Thursday but our power won't be turned on until Tuesday at the soonest. So until then, we're bunking at my brother's.

In the mean time, I have begun doing little things at the Lakewood condo like updating some of the fixtures and re-painting. I love that we actually own the place so we can do whatever the hell we want to the inside. It currently has tile, except for the bedrooms, which will be a hell of a lot easier to maintain rather than carpet. I'd like to eventually have wood flooring in there. One day.

We should be done with painting by the end of the week. I really wanted to add some moulding to the ceilings so we're JOE'S in the process of doing that as well. I'll post pictures once we finish moving/unpacking. :)

Which reminds me, despite the fact that we lived at Kingston Port for over a year, I never posted pictures.

APARTMENT 214Collapse )

Anyway, we should be sleeping at Lakewood by this weekend and fully moved in by the next. I can't wait until it's all finished and done with and we can finally relax a bit. We'll be busy busy busy the next few weekends.

RIP Lady Baby
I love you so much.

I can't believe it. I had her happy and healthy in my arms just three hours ago. I miss her so much. She was still a puppy... barely two years young. I just hope what little life she did live was worth while.
